Field Description
Control Accounts and Work Packages that have no resource assignments Select this checkbox if you want to validate whether the control account or work package has resource assignments and if there are costs for the assignments.
Delete Control Accounts/Work Packages with no costs Select this checkbox to delete control accounts or work packages that contain resource assignments without costs entered against them. Control accounts or work packages with no costs include budgets, earned values, actual costs, and forecasts.

This checkbox is enabled if the Control Accounts and Work Packages that have no resource assignments checkbox is selected.

Note: You must have write permissions to the project to delete it.
Work Package with Milestones has correct Progress Technique Select this checkbox to validate whether or not each work package with milestones has Milestones as the progress technique used.
Forecast dates before status date Select this checkbox to identify invalid forecast dates in the control account or work package and invalid dates selected for the forecast class. By default, this checkbox is selected.

The following are instances when forecast dates are considered invalid:

  • A planned control account or work package has a forecast start date that is before the current status date.
  • A planned control account or work package has a forecast finish date that is before the current status date.
  • A milestone that is in progress or planned has a forecast finish date that is before the current status date.
Validate Early dates Select this checkbox to include the early dates during validation. This checkbox is enabled only if the Forecast dates before status date checkbox is selected. By default, this checkbox is selected. When selected, Cobra will validate the Early dates using the same rules as those for the Forecast dates.

If you clear this checkbox, Cobra will not validate the Early dates and will not generate errors for invalid dates in the process log. If there are forecast classes using the Early dates, a warning message about forecast classes using Early dates will be generated in the process log.

Validate Late dates Select this checkbox to include the late dates during validation. This checkbox is enabled only if the Forecast dates before status date checkbox is selected. By default, this checkbox is selected. When selected, Cobra will validate the Late dates using the same rules as those for the Forecast dates.

If you clear this checkbox, Cobra will not validate the Late dates and will not generate errors for invalid dates in the process log. If there are forecast classes using the Late dates, a warning message about forecast classes using Late dates will be generated in the process log.

Slip the Control Account/Work Package dates if the forecast dates are earlier than the status date Select this checkbox to change the invalid Forecast start date to the date following the status date. The forecast finish date is also moved by the same number of days to maintain the original duration of the control account or work package.
Note: You must have write permissions to the project to slip the dates.
Control Account dates exactly span Work Package dates Select this checkbox if you want to validate that:
  • The forecast dates for the work package align with the forecast dates for the control account.
  • The baseline dates for the work package align with the baseline dates for the control account.
  • The milestone end dates are within the work package dates.
Adjust Control Account dates to exactly span Work Package dates Select this checkbox if you want to adjust the control account baseline and forecast dates to align to the work package dates unless the control account date contains control account-level resources beyond the work package dates.
Work Package dates correctly span resource assignment dates Select this checkbox if you want to validate any of the following:
  • Budget resources are within the work package baseline dates.
  • Forecast resources are between the status date and the forecast finish date.
  • Actual resources are prior to the work package actual start date.

For planned work packages with actual costs: When the Allow posting actual costs to a planned Control Account or Work Package option on Project Properties > Preferences > Actual Costs is cleared, Cobra will display an error message if actual costs exist for planned work packages.

  • All earned value resources are later than the work package actual start date.
  • Earned value records do not exist for planned work packages.
Delete zero-value time-phase Select this checkbox to delete either all zero time-phased records or only zero-value time-phased records that are outside the work package dates. Deletion applies only to zero-value time-phased records at the work package level.

This checkbox is enabled only if the Work Package dates correctly span resource assignments dates checkbox is selected. If the parent option is selected, this checkbox is enabled and cleared by default. You must have write permissions to the project you are running the Validity Check Wizard against to make this checkbox enabled.

When the Adjust Work Package dates to span resource assignment dates checkbox is also selected, Cobra will first delete zero-value time-phased records before adjusting the budget, forecast, and actual work package dates to span the respective resource assignment dates.

Note: Deletion does not apply to Frozen Forecast classes.
Delete zero-value time-phase outside Work Package dates Select this option to delete zero-value time-phased records that are outside the work package dates. Zero-value time-phased records that are within the work package dates will not be deleted.

By default, this checkbox is selected.

Delete all zero-value time-phase Select this option to delete all zero-value time-phased records on the work package, regardless if they are within or outside the work package dates.
Exclude classes with these dates sets Click to display the Date Set Lookup dialog box, and select date sets for a class type to exclude during the deletion of the zero-value time-phased records.

If this field is left blank, Cobra applies the deletion to all budget and forecast classes with zero value-time-phased records in the project. If a date set is selected, Cobra will not update the time-phase record associated with the selected date set.

Adjust Work Package dates to span resource assignment dates Select this checkbox to check if there are any resource assignment time-phased entries outside the work package dates. If a time-phased entry earlier than the start date or later than the finish date is found, Cobra will expand the start/finish dates to make sure all time-phased dates are included in the work package dates. Cobra will not contract the start or finish dates to match the resource assignment spread dates are already between these dates.

If this checkbox is selected as well as the Delete zero-value time-phase option, Cobra will first delete zero-value time-phased records before adjusting the budget, forecast, and actual work package dates to span the respective resource assignment dates.

Project Audit Log matches Project Value Select this checkbox to identify account records whose project logs do not match the project header and budget values.
Control Account/Work Package dates that are outside of the Project Calendar Select this checkbox to identify the control account/work package start or finish dates (Baseline, Actual, Forecast, Early, Late, and Pending) that fall outside the project calendar dates.
Note: The validity check runs only against the selected master project, not against the sub-projects listed under the master project.
